Welcome to Syamaprasad Institute of Education and Training(SIET).We are interested in the creation and dissemination of knowledge for the emerging needs of India and the global economy of the 21st century. Educational institutions are social institutions created to serve a purpose – to develop the human capital with required knowledge, skills and competence. This human capital, the produced means of production, is the greatest asset of a nation. Education and training, with quality and relevance, creates this invaluable asset, and significantly adds to the “competitive advantage” of a nation. The primary objectives of SIET are at fostering, working and propagating all sorts of academic, economic, and cultural HRD oriented functions including research and training for true upliftment of the society. Further the objectives of this institute is to fulfill the aspiration of the society by promoting and catering the general and specialized educational training, research and other cultural activities in order to prepare the youth of the society and face them the challenges of market economy and globalization

Now days, quest for quality has come to the centre-stage of the education system, with the emergence of a globalised world system. What matters is quality nothing else. Quality of teaching, almost without exception, depends on the quality of teachers. Teachers have the opportunity and privilege of making a difference to young students they teach. The quality of the teachers depends, to a large measure, on the quality of the teacher preparation programs offered in Teacher Education Institutions. To put it simply, teachers are made, they are not born. The aims of SIET are to produce prospective teachers comparable to the best in the world, to produce teachers, who value children, their hopes and aspirations and strive for meeting or excelling consumer’s satisfaction. The SIET create a teaching workforce resilient enough to adapt to dynamics of change. The institute prepares teachers who believe in inclusiveness and excellence. In view of the above context “Excellence and Service” constitute the mantra of “SIET”.

The institute accepts the truth, that the students are the active constructors of their own learning in their own ways through absorption, interaction, observation and reflection.SIET,Kolkata was conceived and created as an institution, with a mission and vision, to be different. The institute was created as a small step forward, to turn into a big leap towards excellence in years ahead.
SIET is proud of an excellent faculty, many of them are the retired teachers of Calcutta University. The result of the college is excellent, students stands in the University Exam-merit List. Classes are held rigorously, Practice Teaching for the trainee students forms the prime part of their teaching experience.

Teachers are friendly and students consult with them every now and then, not only on academic issues but also in their own personal problems, if any. Our students, being the future teachers of the country are very much keen and involved in many extra curricular activities, Seminars, symposia of the SIET round the year; This is really inspiring to us, because the students themselves have developed this B.Ed college to an excellence, we believe.

The college is presently ledged at its own sprawling green campus (7, Raja Rammohan Roy Road, Tollygung _Siriti Crossing) Kolkata-700 041 which is enriched with its eco-friendly and calm atmosphere beautified with a college pond and a Lake side by, befriended with trees and plants like Tala, Bakul, Ashoka, Rasala (Mango), Erica Plams and many more. The village-look of the Campus is fascinating and rare in the Metro City Kolkata. The new campus is still small and developing, many more works are in progress.
We are to “go many miles more, many miles more, before we sleep” satisfied.
